Top 100 motorcycle blogs

I know this time of the year is better for riding than for reading, but still I decided to make a list of Motorcycle blogs. I’ve called it the “Top 100 motorcycle blogs”, but I couldn’t really decide on their order, so I’ve put them in alphabetical order. I didn’t apply any complex quality rules, other than having some posts in the last 4 months - at least a sign that the author is alive and kicking!

Well, hope you will enjoy the blogs. I must say that it seems that most of the blogs are written about riders over 40 or 50. Does this mean I will have to wait for retirement to get some time to ride?

PS: if you think I should be adding some more blogs to the list, just add a comment and I will get back to you!

Riders code of the road

I did ride a couple of times as a passenger before becoming a rider myself. I have to say I was scared and didn’t understand what’s the joy of riding. That happened until I got to a bikers meeting in Brasov, when, besides getting the chance of seeing a lot of bikes in one place, I got to see about bikers friendship and community.

Back then (now it seems that the harder of new bikers are not so “bikers” anymore) I had strong feelings seeing biker from all over the country shaking hands, discussing about their bikes, their adventures and wonderful “code of the road stories”. Got back home, and in one month I got my license and first motorcycle.

In the meanwhile (it’s been like 4 years since then) I got my own set of stories, my own set of accidents and my own set of carrying fellow bikers at hospitals, recovering bikes, parties and so on.

It doesn’t matter the time in the day or night, if a fellow biker calls you for help, you are going. Then you have the biker greeting signs on the road, and the help when you meet a biker in trouble on the road. Because we have something that is called “riders code of the road”, an unwritten set of rules that motorcycle guys are following. And that’s what makes best having a motorcycle.

Here is a nice story about the Code of the road from a fellow biker. And here is something that he says: “There’s a quote about motorcycles: Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.

Why do you ride a motorcyle?

Not sure why, but it seems that the younger generation ride for the speed. Then, if you are looking to hear real motorcycle stories, you are going to hear them from “not so young bikers”. In fact if you make a collection of blogs or sites to read about motorcycles I think that over 50% are from people that come back to riding after many years of pause or from people fighting with aging or middle age crisis.

So why do you ride? For the fun? For the long tours? Commuting? I’ve heard the following cases:

  • speed! Wheelies, stoppies, highway run. Very common, most casualties.
  • Touring. Picking up the wife and cruise for a day or two or maybe more. Beautiful locations, beautiful pictures. Common for middle aged, usually big bikes.
  • Commuting. Getting here and there fast. Usually Japanese street-fighters, high mileage in a couple of years. Cars are too expensive and boring.
  • Offroad. The true adventurers, they sleep outside in a tent. Exclusive pictures from far away places. Maybe some Paris-Dakar memories.
