Trip to Slanic Prahova Salt mine

From Bucharest, the trip to Slanic Prahova salt mine it’s a nice Sunday morning trip. It’s about 100 kms going through villages and some twisted roads. From what I read, the salt mine is the biggest in Europe (you will get from the pictures how big it is, and that’s just the visiting area). First, you go down with the miner’s elevator (it’s really an authentic elevator they used while excavating for salt), around 200m. The temperature is 12-13 Celsius, no matter what season is outside. You can play basketball, soccer, or just sleep in the sanatorium (the mine is well known for it’s curative powers especially for asthma. It’s really an incredible experience:
