Classic Motor Show at 14th to 16th November at Birmingham’s NEC, UK

Got this from http://classicbikesatclassicmotor.com/

Classic bikers will be in for a treat at this year’s Classic Motor Show as 2008 sees a brand new hall dedicated to motorcycles ranging from British Pre-war to Japanese 80’s bikes with some European and American models thrown is too! Classic Bikes will also include a replica of the famous Ace Cafe, feature displays from famous classic racing teams, a seminar stage with interviews from riders from bygone years, motorcycle traders and a ‘Bikejumble’ for people looking for that elusive part. Around 200 rare and amazing bikes will be on display from the 14th to 16th November at Birmingham’s NEC from motorcycle clubs from all over the UK.

Show Manager Andy Rouse explains: “As the interest in classic bikes has grown, it is a natural progression that we dedicate an entire hall so that enthusiasts can see even more rare and amazing motorcycles along with the exquisite cars that we always feature. Classic Bikes will have a direct link into the Classic Motor Show and entrance will be included in the ticket price, giving visitors even more value for money.”

How to resize hundreds of pictures for the web?

If you are just like me, a biker blogger and photographer, then you would like to take a lot of pictures. Then, when you get back home, you have around 200 pictures that you would like to publish, but they are too big to be uploaded as they are.

The good news is that there is software that can process hundreds of pictures at a time - simply add an entire folder, apply the filters and the software will process all the pictures in one shoot. I’m reviewing today BatchPhoto - a fast editing software.

BatchPhoto review

Using batchphoto is a breeze. It has a powerful 3 steps wizard that helps you pass through all the processing steps. The application has 39 graphical filters that can be applied on the photos, and is quite versatile.

Using BatchPhoto

Once you start the application, the wizard will pop-up and let you make the initial settings for the batch of photos. You can select the initial filter to apply (you can add more later). When I came back from the Moldavia Bikers Party in Bacau, so I have around 170 pictures to process, making them smaller size for web usage and applying automatic contrast. Here is how to do it:

BatchPhoto Wizard Step 1

Using the wizard to select the initial filter - resize the pictures for Online usage (click on the picture to see a bigger version):

For this project I selected “shrink photos, resize for uploading online”. Next step is to add the pictures that you want resized. I usually delete all the pictures I don’t want right after downloading them from the camera, so it was quite easy - you can upload an entire folder.

Once all pictures are in place, you should go and select additional filters from the left menu “Add Filters”. You have around 40 filters to apply, from adding a border to each picture, sharpening, blur, to add date and time. I wanted to add a black border 1 pixel to each picture, and also adjust the color levels automatically:

From the same page you can choose how the edited files will be renamed (good idea, so you know which ones are edited and which are not). On the next step you can choose the output folder - either the same as the source or different - recommended so you don’t mix up files.

You are almost done! Click process, and Batchphoto will apply the filters on the pictures and save a new version!

Check for yourself - everything is quite easy, and you can test by downloading Batchphoto trial.

Heavy Riders Bike Fest, Ploiesti, 2008

I’m a little late on this one, but a couple of weeks ago I’ve attended the Heavy Riders Bike Fest, first edition, near Ploiesti. I have to say that this was an excellent location - basically we were in the middle of a small forest, plenty of barbecues and a lot of fun. Being a first edition there were some things that could be improved in the future, like the bikers parade that was one hour before the announced time, but still, I had a great time. I’ve actually met 2 colleagues from my previous job that I had no idea they were even bikers! Enough with the talking, let’s see some pictures:

This guy with this rat bikes seems to make it to all parties. Amazing!
