The first ride of the season – Giurgiu 2010

By | Apr 12, 2010

There was definitively a non biking start of the year! I almost have a picture showing snow in front of my house about 3-4 weeks ago (almost because I’m too lazy to look for it on my mobile phone). I even got to talk about the parked motorcycle syndrome this year (last year I didn’t ride just 1.5 months).

So anyway, before I’m going to talk about my both motorcycles failing to start (I know that’s impossible because they are both Honda but you know how things go when shit hits the fan) I’m going to talk about the first ride of the season. I’ve actually planned to go to the mountains but -5 Celsius was clearly not as enjoyable as a nice Sunday ride should be ;) So I actually decided to follow the trail of hotter temperatures on our weather institute (hey when you need a reason and direction to go, everything works isn’t it?).

I didn’t go that far either because it started raining, but I made it to Giurgiu (the last city before getting into Bulgaria) on the Danube shore. My mom told me a few weeks ago that they laid new tarmac on the road and made it a 2 lanes (Romania is 99% one lane roads). It was true. Nice tarmac after a long winter. Anyway, the pictures:

I think I will remember these pictures as the pictures from the CBF era. You know, it happens when you look at old pictures and see the old cars or bikes you owned and what they represented for you. It helps defining the periods in life. So I take a picture of my bike in every location.

I never took a cruise on the Danube, but I think it might be interesting because you go through different countries.

You can see Bulgaria on the other side. 20 years ago it was very hard to travel abroad. Now you can make it any day. An interesting thought.

I wonder what the orange/blue building might be.

Strange street dog. Looks more like a fox. Or my wild life know how is really messed up.

A lot of ships…

Nice and relaxing! Looking forward for the next rides…
